On July 15, 1983, Allen Carr, an avid smoker with thirty years of experience, put out a freshly smoked cigarette and announced the discovery of a new way to quit nicotine. A method that enables every smoker to give up a bad habit once and for all - without effort of will, gimmicks or substitutes, without withdrawal syndrome, without being overweight and most importantly without spending the rest of their life in an uphill battle with the desire to smokesecret fear that it wouldn't be so much fun at a party without a cigarette and that stress would not be manageable without a cigarette.
At that moment, few people could believe in the reality of such a magical healing. After all, everyone knew that quitting smoking usually requires tremendous willpower, accompanied by weight gain and the painful consequences of abstaining from nicotine. In general, quitting smoking is just as difficult as conquering Mount Everest. Unfortunately, millions of smokers continue to suffer from this delusion.
With the thousands of man hours and millions of dollars spent trying to find an effective way to quit smoking, it's understandable how hard it is for them to believe that a former smoker with no medical training can handle a problem on his own. that professionals cannot overcome. This is more likely to be believed by members of the Alcoholics Anonymous Society. As a former Alcoholic Anonymous I am aware that millions of us owe our lives not to doctors but to comrades in misery.
Allen Carr is now recognized worldwide as the leading expert in helping smokers get rid of their bad habit. His first book, The Easy Way to Quit Smoking, has been a bestseller since 1985 when it was first published by Penguin. This book has been translated into more than 20 languages and became a bestseller in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A worldwide network of clinics was created based on the Allen-Carr method.
I first heard from Allen Carr from friends who had been treated at his clinic and were very pleased with the results. I was skeptical of this enthusiasm, as most of them had only stopped smoking a few days ago. I had no doubt that they had paid a fortune for the latest "magical" drug and would try to convince me to fall for the same bait. Now I don't believe in it myself, but then I wanted her to go back to the old habit. It annoyed me that they didn't mind at all if I smoked around them, and I gradually realized that they were really enjoying their new life. Instead of pitying them for having lost their interest in smoking, I began to envy them.
For many years I felt like an outcast for continuing to smoke. As a fluctuating member of the "Brotherhood" I knew that alcohol was ruining my life. My apology was that I thought alcohol was an essential social prop. Now I felt like an outcast again because of my alcohol addiction. So I ended up in the AllenCarr Clinic, in full confidence that it would not help me, I never said a word to my wife, let alone friends, of my intention, and four hours later when I left the clinic I was going to tell the world about it.
Carr claims his method is equally effective for all types of addiction. I am pleased to testify that this method not only saved me from smoking, but also helped me wake up from the nightmare that ruled my life - alcoholism. I was once convinced that alcoholism was incurable. Carr proved I was wrong. Today my only regret is that I did not know anything about Allen Carr beforehand. Don't worry if you are skeptical at first. That is exactly what everyone expects from you. I am not going to talk about how his method works or how effective it is. I can only say one thing: by the time you finish reading this book, it will be a mystery to you because you did not understand such obvious things before. Have fun with your book!

An easy way to stop drinking
More than twenty years ago I was able to prove that every smoker can easily quit smoking. After discovering this method, I seriously expected that smoking would be a thing of the past in a few years. In fact, thanks to my method, more than five million people have since broken free from this habit, according to the most conservative estimates. Quitting nicotine was easy and comfortable for most. However, there are millions of other people in the world who have not yet heard of Allen Carr or his method. I only see the reason for this in the fact that it takes a certain amount of time to give up the generally accepted dogma. After all, everyone knows how difficult it is to quit smoking.
For most of our history we have believed that the earth is flat and is at the center of the universe. Overcoming alcohol addiction is known to take tremendous willpower, including several unsuccessful attempts to stop drinking. It is also believed that controlling their drinking habits is the hardest for those who need it most.
If I am having a hard time convincing people that there is an easy and enjoyable way to quit smoking, how much effort will it take to convince you that everyone has an easy, permanent, and immediate solution to the drinking problemcan? If you suspect that you may be addicted to alcohol or already consider yourself an alcoholic, Alcoholics Anonymous (A. A. ), known for their authority on alcoholism, is probably doing me a disservice with their categorical statement:
"Alcoholism is a chronic disease for which there is no known cure. "
Unfortunately, this opinion is actively supported by many well-known medical specialists, the media, and society in general. The belief that alcoholism is incurable is so ingrained that I won't be offended if you toss this book in the trash can without even opening it. But please don't do that. Many doctors do not share the views of A. A. and other similar organizations, but they are very reluctant to express their objections on national television.
One of the worst consequences of alcoholism is leaving the victim penniless. Sufficiently wealthy people whose alcohol situation is out of control can go to rehab, but for the vast majority of alcoholics, AA is the only way to get effective help. So why am I questioning the core of A. A. 's strategy: the idea that alcoholism is a disease for which there is no known cure?
Because it is based on deception!
What excites me most about AA meetings is that anyone given the floor can make scandalous statements, sob freely or express their anger, use expressions that would make a Sergeant of the Construction Battalion blush, andall without protests from the audience. . . . Politicians should be required to attend A. A. meetings to learn how to debate.
I understand that some of my judgments can make you feel a variety of things, from relief to anger, fear, and disbelief. But whoever you think you are, someone with a mild alcohol addiction or a full alcoholic recovery, or vice versa, I have only good news for you. I only ask one thing: Do me the same service as any speaker in an A. A. meeting.
Let me make it clear that no matter what I say about A. A. , I am in no way his opponent or competitor. For most alcoholics, A. A. is the only source of help available. But according to the teaching of this society, alcoholism is incurable and the road to recovery can be long and painful. Imagine there was a universal, simple, and inexpensive drug for anyone with an alcohol addiction that:
- Acted immediately!
- It worked all along!
- It did not require any effort of will!
- Eliminate suffering from withdrawal symptoms!
- It made it possible to have more fun on the holidays!
- Helped deal with stress better!
- Did not induce feelings of sacrifice or deprivation and the need to constantly fight temptation!
It's probably easier to believe in fairy tales. But let's imagine for a moment that there is such a medicine. Suppose A. A. is going to use it. How long do you think alcoholism will plague our planet? What sane person would refuse to use such a means?
But it does exist. It is up to you. If you have read this far, you are a little concerned about the alcohol abuse problem. In that case, I think it would be unwise not to finish reading the book. It is only natural to ask for a remedy, especially if it has an immediate and lasting effect, is effortless and easy to use.
Why should you trust meAnd I am not asking you about it. On the contrary, I am ready to accept your skepticism. An important part of my method is that you question not just every statement I say, but all of your attitudes about alcohol and alcoholism, which you have previously perceived as immutable truth.
When I first announced that my method would make it easy for anyone to quit smoking, my family and close friends thought it was a joke. They were gentle enough not to laugh in my face, but it was clear that I was being considered a potential patient in a mental hospital.
No wonder when you consider that I had tried to quit smoking countless times and made this statement with a freshly smoked cigarette. Today passers-by stop me on the street and thank me for saving their own life, the life of a close friend or relative. Every day I get letters in which they tell me that I am a genius and offer to knight or even canonize me. I was even offered a seat on the royal podium at Ascot, but personally I think that's too much. Such honors are beyond my merits.
Like all great discoveries, the Easy Way is more of a manifestation of happiness than any genius in my nature. In truth, I am still embarrassed by the honor and respect that surround me today. But like any normal person, I can't help but enjoy it. All of this has helped me get my way, and I will not risk my reputation in the slightest by making statements that I cannot substantiate.
If you are a demanding person, you have probably already asked yourself the question:
"If Allen Carr's method is as unique as he claims, why isn't it used by AA, ASH, QUIT, authority figures, etc.? Undoubtedly, with modern means of communication, this method of treatment could spread like a hurricane over the whole world. "
You might be interested in why people from all over the world come to this humble loner with no medical background who doesn't even advertise his method, and why he's widely recognized as the world's foremost expert in the field. There is only one simple answer:
The easy way is effective!
Perhaps you have the impression that conventional medicine rejects my method as such. In fact, I was initially seen as a fraud and a charlatan. But today it is doctors who seek help from our clinics more often than people in other professions, and you will hear most of our recommendations from doctors and nurses. The medical profession is extremely responsible and stressful, so doctors are more prone to drug traps than normal people, especially considering they have free access to medication.
If a normal general practitioner decided to use my method on his patients, he would have failed. The entire course of treatment requires at least four hours of therapy, and it takes a year to train a specialist. Organizations like DRINKLINE, [ASH, and QUIT are charities run by well-meaning amateurs, most of whom are not personally familiar with these issues. Your recommendations boil down to the hackneyed platitudes that have already caused your previous failures and mishaps.
Nevertheless, I am confident that A. A. members who have been in this pit have enough experience, competence, motivation and enthusiasm. If you add the necessary information to their recommendations, in a few years' time alcoholism may only remain in the history class of the school.
Does this mean that Easy Way cannot function without the support of an organization like A. A.? No it does not. Patients come to our clinic desperate, convinced that they will only get rid of their addiction after weeks, months or even years of torture. Most of them believe that even with successful resolution of the problem, the vacation will not be so fun, there is nothing to relieve stress, and temptation will have to be battled for the rest of their lives.
"Just a moment! Wait. I've abused alcohol for over 30 years. Don't think I'm a fool. There's no way I can be cured in just four hours. "
I never said you could be cured in four hours. I said your problem can be resolved in four hours. Have you noticed that once you have the courage to see a doctor, the toothache that has plagued you for several weeks miraculously disappears? This is the "law of meanness".
Have you ever noticed the unhappy looks on the faces of people who walk into the dental office and how they can barely hold back a happy smile when they leave the dental chair? Toothache can be relieved by inserting a filling or removing a tooth. The recovery period after such pain may take longer. The gums remain inflamed for several days. But regardless of inflammation, leaving the doctor's office makes you feel happy, especially if this is your last visit.
This applies to any problem, physical or mental: you will feel a surge in strength and confidence when you know the solution. The more serious the problem, the longer it plagues you, the more convinced you are of its hopelessness, the more you will rise when you find a solution.
"But how can there be a simple and quick solution to problems as long and complex as alcoholism? "
Imagine being locked in a cell with a combination lock. You can spend years choosing the code and getting nowhere. But when I give you the code, you are instantly, easily and forever free.
"But alcoholism is something else entirely. "
Alcoholism is just that, and the easy route is a master key to constipation in prison.
So this book is just an advertisement for Allen Carr's clinics? No. It offers the same course of treatment and is sufficient on its own. Clinics and a book are different ways of doing the same treatment. The advantage of the clinic is the possibility to ask questions to a trained therapist and to discuss controversial topics with him on site. Unfortunately, this is not possible with a book.
Your doctor can also determine if you've missed something important. Of course, the book can't do that. I said the treatment would be immediate. Obviously there is an immediate effect only after completing the course. Treatment in the clinic consists of a four-hour session. The healing of the book will continue until you finish reading it. The advantage of the book is that you can read it in your spare time. In practice, however, this can be a disadvantage. I often receive emails with comments like this:
"My daughter bought me your book three years ago. I finished reading it ten days ago. How right you were! It's so great to be free. Why did I lose these three years? "
Indeed why? There are many reasons why someone might not refer to this book in any way. In the clinic, the patient will most likely go through the entire session. I personally treated more than 25, 000 people who turned to me for help. Only one patient left the session because her husband had made her visit us.
Like many people, I hate manuals and guides, most of which are as exciting to read as drying paint. So I tried to make the book entertaining. Hopefully I did it well enough that you read it to the end because this book will guarantee that you will overcome your drinking problem on your own.
In principle, your problem is considered solved as soon as you have acquired the information contained here. To do this, you need a fresh and sober mind so that you can easily focus on the task at hand. Some people read a book in one sitting, but I wouldn't recommend that.
I have already said that healing is guaranteed. In the clinic we give the money back to the patient in the event of failure (information on this can be found at the end of the book). I'm sorry I can't promise my money back if you buy the book. You are undoubtedly wondering why mistakes happen and if you will become one of those mistakes. Luck or failure has nothing to do with it.
Every person is guaranteed to be cured if all the rules are followed. After following all of the instructions, he can get rid of alcohol addiction incredibly easily. Many do it with pleasure. Now you might be thinking:
"Something is wrong here. Your rules probably go something like this: Take a solemn oath never to touch alcohol again, be true to that oath, and as soon as you feel the temptation say to yourself, "How nice it is to be free! ""
In principle, if you follow these simple instructions, it will definitely help you stay in control. But I doubt it will make your life happier. Plus, we wouldn't get as many positive reviews and we wouldn't get more than 90 percent performance if the method was only for that. You may be thinking now:
"Understand. The catch is that the rules are so complex that only Einstein can follow them, and Allen Carr will accuse me of being too stupid to understand his method properly and use it successfully.
Nothing like that. If you were smart enough to read this book, you must be smart enough to be successful. Think of each rule as a number on a combination lock. If you miss a number or mix it up, the lock won't open.
So the first rule:
Follow all the rules.
Remember that over 90 percent of the patients who visit our clinic stop drinking. This is because they follow all the prescribed rules during the session. This is exactly how you should act when reading a book. I mentioned earlier that I hate guides and manuals; if you don't like them either, i am happy to inform you that there are only seven rules in total, which are listed on the following pages.
The second rule says:
Be patient.
When I say, "Be patient, " I mean that you shouldn't go to the next few sections in the book without reading all of the previous material. Treat the book like a detective. Indeed, this is a detective. The drug trap is the greatest scam in human history. In the words of Abraham Lincoln:
"You can fool all people for a while, or you can fool some people all the time, but you can't fool all people all the time! "
That was what could be said about drug addiction until I found the easy way out. This does not mean that everyone got addicted, but all along, people have been captivated by illusions. Like any scam, a drug can play a cruel joke on an intellectual. But deception exposed cannot deceive even a feeble-minded person.
Unlike other detective stories, this book can have a different ending. For some, reading can prove sad, even tragic. But for most of them this is the happiest ending in their life. It's your decision. For a happy ending, all you have to do is follow all the rules. The third rule says:
Start reading in a good mood.
How can you do that if you are among those who believe that alcohol addiction is inherently incurable, let alone simple treatments? This is of course a question of the priority of the chicken or the egg. If you could travel forward in time and experience for a second time the exhilaration that will arise after reading this book, your mood could not be any different.
It's like learning to jump in the water. The depth of the pool is 2. 5 meters, but the bottom does not seem to be more than half a meter. The board you're standing on is only 50 centimeters above the water, but you feel like everything is 2. 5 meters below you. You have no doubt that your head will be smashed and, despite the coach's efforts and safety promises, you will need to muster all your courage to make up for the jump.
The thought of getting rid of drunkenness sometimes seems no less daunting to a person who has already made several unsuccessful attempts. You can experience the feeling of a novice scuba diver before jumping. But you are not a diver. You are in a much more enviable position of winning everything without losing anything. The worst that can happen is failure. In this case, your situation will not get any worse than the one you started with. Follow the rules and you will be fine.
Some people think the easy way is to practice positive thinking. You know yourself: if you believe in the goal, you will achieve it. This is not necessarily the case. I've always thought positively, but that didn't help me escape the drug trap any more than it helped me avoid a prison cell. Nevertheless, positive thinking increases your chances of success enormously and the opposing position is almost doomed to failure. So the fourth rule is:
Think positive.
Let's discard any pessimistic thoughts. There is no point in feeling unhappy and deprived. You have to find something incredible, something that others think is impossible - a permanent cure for alcoholism. Think of your journey through this book as the exhilarating endeavor it really is. Imagine how proud your friends and family will be.
The advantage of the Easy method is that you can keep drinking during the treatment. It probably sounds unbelievable, but I promise you it will gradually all become clear. So your fifth rule is:
Don't stop drinking or reduce your alcohol consumption until you have finished reading the book.
There is one exception to this rule. If you are in rehab or have been off alcohol for more than a day, try to keep yourself under control as much as possible. Sixth rule:
Read this book with a sober head.
The last, seventh rule is the hardest to follow:
Be objective and open to new ideas.
